Wedding makeup trends are a must when you plan to do the deed anytime soon. There’s no doubt that wedding makeup is a huge part of any woman’s look - it can add just the right touch of glamour to your day. But, like anything else in life, there are trends that can be a bit too over the top or just not “you”.
The biggest thing I’m noticing with brides right now is that they’ve realised that it’s their day, and they don’t need to adhere to a particular theme or trend to get what they want,” says Jonathan Polanco of Edge Beauty Lounge in Danvers, MA. With the latest trends for weddings and wedding makeups, there are a few things to keep in mind as you plan your big day.
Don’t go too bright! In the last couple of years, bright and bold lipstick shades have been all the rage on runways and the red carpet. And, if you’re a big fan of that super vivid lip, you may be in luck.
According to celebrity makeup artist Alexis Oakley, “Simple pops of color in the eyes” will be popular this summer. Don’t be afraid to use a pop of color in your make up - just make sure to do it in a way that’s still flattering for you. If you’re worried about going overboard with a bright orange liner or bright red lips, you can always keep things classic with simple nude tones for your eyes and lips.
Stay natural. “The biggest thing I’m seeing with brides is the “no-makeup makeup” lol,” says makeup Ehlie Luna. More and more brides are opting for more natural looking makeup on their day - sometimes even opting out of foundation altogether!
If you’re not quite ready to go without foundation on your wedding day, opt for something less dramatic than your normal go-to formula. Try a tinted moisturizer of BB cream. Also, stick with lighter shades of concealer and blush to keep everything looking fresh and light.
Wedding makeup trends are not really a necessity, sometimes simpler is better. But then, a day like today is not going to come, so splurge all you want. It’s your day, after all. Go for it!
